Memorial Rehabilitation Institute Expo
Last Saturday I had the privilege of being a guest speaker and performer at the Adaptive Sports and Recreation Expo for Memorial Rehabilitation Institute in Hollywood Florida! The expo drew attendees from all over South Florida. The focus of the expo was to gather participants and community members involved in the adaptive movement in South Florida. There were vendor booths offering information for many adaptive sports and recreation opportunities in South Florida. Some powerhouse names in the South Florida adaptive community were there, such as IAMADAPTIVE and the adaptive basketball team the Fort Lauderdale Sharks, who showed off there mad skills during the expo. I met the extra-ordinary Founders of IAMADAPTIVE Marilyn and Ellyse Zosia. IAMADAPTIVE's mission is made up of 3 main goals which help strategize and implement many innovative avenues to aid in ridding the world of the words "handicapped & disabled." We are all adaptive! All I can say is Amen to that! As a guest speaker and performer I shared my story and a dance performance during the expo. After the expo I met Doug Zeran who is also from Tacoma. As we talked I discovered that he is the CEO of Memorial Rehabilitation Institute! What a great connection! Wow! The video of my dance performance was shared by IAMADAPTIVE via Instagram after the expo and has over 30,000 hits. This event left me buzzing with positivity! I am so grateful to be part of the global adaptive movement that is going strong here in South Florida.
